Message Center and Quarantine Summary Overview
    • Suspicious email is not delivered to your inbox but is directed to your personal, web-based, password-protected Message Center. Think of this as a quarantine area. In your Message Center you can read the quarantined message, delete it, or deliver (forward) it to your in box.
      • All messages that you don't deliver are automatically moved to the Trash after 14 days. Messages remain in the Trash for another 3 days before Message Center permanently deletes them.
    • Initially, you should visit your Message Center often because Postini "remembers and learns" from your interaction.
      • For example, if you deliver a message from the Junk tab, Message Center asks you whether you want to add the sender to your Approved Senders list. Messages from senders on this list bypass the junk filter settings, so they won’t be falsely quarantined in the future.
    • Optionally, you can adjust Message Center settings to define how sensitive you are to spam.
    • Also, you can "block" senders. Junk email from your blocked senders list is always quarantined. You can also "approve" senders. Email from your approved senders is delivered providing it does not contain a virus.
    • Eventually, you will feel confident in the service and rely on the daily Quarantine Summary notification which lists your newly quarantined messages.
    • You will receive a daily notification (called Quarantine Summary) listing all messages that have been recently quarantined in the Message Center. This notification allows you to quickly scan quarantined messages without having to visit your Message Center.
      • Please note that you will only receive a Quarantine Summary e-mail on days when junk mail was sent to your account.
      • You can deliver a message from your Junk quarantine to your inbox by clicking the corresponding "deliver" link in the email.
      • You can click a message's "subject" link to log into the Message Center and review the message's content.
      • The Quarantine Summary email message also provides a link to the Message Center if you want, for example, to see the contents of a quarantined junk message or to update your approved senders list.
    • Please note that if you are using Microsoft Outlook in cached mode, your Quarantine Summary e-mail may be sent to your Junk E-mail folder. To allow delivery of this summary e-mail to your inbox, please add MessageCenter@depaul.edu to the Safe Sender’s List. (Tools > Options > Junk E-Mail Button > Safe Sender’s Tab. Click Add. Enter MessageCenter@depaul.edu. Click OK.)
