    Distribution Lists and Resources

    Distribution List

An Outlook distribution list is helpful when sending informational e-mails to a group of people (department or team members). The lists may be as large or small as you need.
    • Lists must be owned by a full-time person. The owner is responsible for approving additions/deletions of distribution list members.

    • The owner names the distribution list

    • You can send to the list, but not from the list.

    • Network administrators (a.k.a Netadmin) in IS create and maintain the list.

    • To request a distribution list or to update list members, please e-mail netadmin@depaul.edu with the following information:

      • List owner
      • Member names (users of the list)
      • Suggested name of the distribution list
    Resource

You can request an Outlook resource if you need an e-mail address for a team or project that is separate from a person's Outlook account. It functions like a regular e-mail account for sending and receiving e-mail.
    • Resources must be owned by a full-time employee.

    • The owner has FULL rights to the account and is able to give other users permission to access the resource.  If a user requires "send as" rights, the owner must request these privileges from Netadmin.

      • "Send as" rights allow an individual to respond to e-mail as the resource name.
      • The owner can request additional users "send as" rights

    • To request a Outlook resource, complete this form.

    • Please review these instructions on how to manage an e-mail resource
