- Threatening or harassing phone calls should be reported to the DePaul Safety Office, the Chicago Police Department, and the DePaul Information Services department (call the Help Desk Ext. 2-8765).
Troubleshooting:
- No dial tone:
- Make sure that your phone is plugged into the voice jack not the data jack.
- Voice jacks are black or are labeled with a telephone icon.
- Data jacks are orange or are labeled with a computer icon.
- Try switching phones with your roommate or R.A.. This will help you determine whether your phone works or if there is another problem. Plug your phone into his/her jack, and check for dial tone. If you still do not have dial tone on your line, call the Help Desk at Ext. 2-8765.
- Repair information:
- NO DIAL TONE: Problems will be resolved within 48 hours from the time the trouble is called in, except on weekends. Calls made on the weekends will be resolved within 48 hours, starting Monday morning.
- VOICE MAIL: Problems will be resolved within 48 hours, except on weekends. Calls reported during the weekend will be resolved within four hours starting Monday morning.
- REPAIR CHARGES: There are no charges for repair services, except in the following instances:
- If a technician is dispatched for a problem that is later diagnosed as an issue with the student's personal phone equipment, a $10.00 charge will be added to the student's monthly bill.
- Any evidence of tampering with a telephone jack will result in a $50.00 charge on the student's bill.
