University Web sites
DePaul University hosts multiple Web sites for its colleges, departments, business units, and official student organizations. If you would like to create a Web site for your area, you have two options to consider, as described in the text below.
If you would like to discuss your Web site needs in greater depth or remain
uncertain which option suits you best, you are invited to contact an IS staff
member.
Condor-based Web sites: condor.depaul.edu/~yoursite
If you are looking for a basic site that features text and a few images, consider a condor-based Web site. The condor server hosts a wide range of university Web sites from faculty pages to departmental information pages to student organizations.
- Condor sites can be a no-cost "do it yourself" endeavor to create and maintain. (Instructional Technology Development offers great resources for this purpose.)
- No technical support is provided for condor-level sites. Space restrictions may apply.
- To get started, complete the paperwork to request your Departmental Web Site.
Domain-level Web sites: sitename.depaul.edu
If your site will feature interactive functions, database connections, is large in size, should be hosted by IS, and requires a high level of visibility, consider a domain-level Web site.
- If you choose to develop a domain-level site on your own, Information Services requires you to have a skilled Web administrator on your staff. (For system security purposes, non-DePaul Web administrators are not permitted.)
- IS provides Web hosting services on Windows and Linux platforms for both university departments and student groups (as authorized by Student Life).
- To get started, contact Information Services for technical support details (tcc@depaul.edu).
