Personal Sites for Faculty/Staff
By obtaining a condor e-mail account, faculty and staff also receive space to host a personal Web page on the DePaul site. Create a Web site that highlights your interests and activities with links to your research materials, Curriculum Vitae, professional organizations, and individual course Web sites (including Blackboard sites). Your site address will be condor.depaul.edu/~youruserID
Each condor account is allocated 20 Mb space on the condor.depaul.edu server. Faculty and staff create and post their own pages. There is no fee for posting a site; there is no technical support provided for the site. Personal pages must be in good taste and must conform to all applicable computing and university policies.
The following information provides basics to help you get started:
- Obtain your condor e-mail account. Complete the condor e-mail form, print it, sign it, and take it to any ID Services office. In three business days, your account will be ready for pick-up in the ID Services office. You will need to pick this up in person.
- Create a public_html directory, set the proper "permissions" for your directory, and change your password. See our Tips for Students/Condor Sites for a Quickguide produced by DePaul's Instructional Technology Development department.
- Create your page using basic HTML or any Web authoring tool of your choice. See our Tips for Students/Condor Sites for HTML tips.
- Transfer your files using SSH. See our Resources for Students/Condor Sites for a Quickguide produced by DePaul's Instructional Technology Development department.
Usage notes:
- Accounts are provided for DePaul University academic work only and are restricted to use by the requester only.
- Accounts that are not accessed for a six month period will be purged by the system administrator.
- To replace misplaced or forgotten passwords, the account requester must go to ID Services and present a DePaul University ID to have a new password established for the account.
- Like all university facilities, university computers and computer networks are to be used only by persons authorized by the university, and only for university purposes. University purposes include the educational programs of the university, as well as its research, administrative and outreach activities.
