Information Services (IS) approaches all its projects with a standard methodology to ensure quality, manage resources wisely, and produce finished projects to the satisfaction and standards of our clients. Our methodology is known as the IS Technology Life Cycle (TLC).
If you would like to work with IS on a project for your area or for the benefit of the university, your project will conform to the TLC methodology.
To initiate a new project:
- Contact Cara Kaufmann, director of IS-Development. She can orient you to the Technology Life Cycle and answer preliminary questions that you may have. Be sure to review the TLC site on your own and download the necessary document templates.
- Complete the IS Request Form (under the Form and Artifacts link below) and send it to ISProjectRequest@depaul.edu. A staff member will contact you to get preliminary requirements and work with you to complete the documents necessary for review, including a cost estimate.
- Once the preliminary requirements and cost estimate are complete, IS staff will compile the documents and send them to the Project Advisory Board for prioritization. The Project Advisory Board (PAC) is made up of representatives from across the university and meet every third Thursday of the month
- IS will work on projects in the order of their priority. Click here to view your project on the priority list.
- You will be contacted when your project is slated to begin the design phase. At that time, you/your department will select a team leader to represent your department. Your team leader will work with an IS project manager to begin the project, including the development of a detailed project charter.
- Your team leader will be involved as a key participant throughout the duration of the project. Anyone who works on the project should be familiar with the TLC methodology.
