Downloads & Updates
DePaul's office and lab computers receive system updates on a regular schedule. This ensures optimal performance and ongoing protection against system attacks.
If additional updates become necessary, you will receive an e-mail from IS that outlines the download/update instructions.
Windows updates:
- Office computer
- Windows will prompt you to update when one is needed.
- Personal computer
- Call the Technology Contact Center (TCC) at Ext. 2-8765 to guide you through updating your computer.
Virus scan updates:
- Your scanner should automatically be set to update and scan daily.
- Important: Do not disable or cancel your virus scan! Daily scans are necessary for protection against the ever-present threat of new and destructive viruses.
- To check:
- Right click the V-shield icon in the bottom right corner of the computer screen.
- Click "VirusScan Console."
- "On-Access Scan" should be "enabled."
- "AutoUpdate" should be "daily."
- "Scan all fixed disks" should be "daily."
- If your computer does not have these settings, call the Technology Contact Center (TCC) at Ext. 2-8765.
- To check virus scan updates:
- Right click the V-shield icon in the bottom right corner of the computer screen.
- Click "About VirusScan Enterprise."
- Look at "Virus definitions," "Created on," and "Scan engines." If you think that you don't have the latest version:
- Right click the V-shield icon in the bottom right corner of the computer screen.
- Click "Update now."
