STARS
STARS is a program focused on creating a positive first year experience for students of color. This is done by managing student relationships through student peer-mentor interactions and staff interventions. In addition, STARS monitors the student's academic progress.
STARS came to CRM with the goal to improve student retention while fostering a positive student experience.
CRM assisted the STARS program by engaging students in a two-way virtual dialogue. The campaign was launched through an introductory e-mail that included a survey to examine the stress level of the students. The results of the survey were used to identify students who were considering transferring or dropping out of DePaul. This information assisted the STARS staff in discovering issues with students so they could intervene immediately. The interaction between the STARS staff and STARS students resulted in a four percent retention increase.
