Network Jack Installation/Activation

New Connections

IS can install and activate new network connections for office spaces at a rate of $105 per connection. If a new cable is needed, departments will also need to cover this cost. For cost estimates see 2a.

Please note that any new network requests received in June will be billed in the next fiscal year.

Fill out the New Connection Request form.
A technician will be scheduled to come on site.
1. If additional cables are needed, a technician will submit a request to Facility Operations. The cost of the new cabling is the responsibility of the requesting department; it can range from $200-$700. A quote can be provided if necessary. Depending on the scope, a cable installation takes from two to three weeks.
2. If cabling is already present, the technician will activate the port in three to five days.
Once the network connection has been activated, a technician will contact the person making the request and let them know the jack has been activated.
IS will process a budget transfer for the activation charge.

New Construction

New construction includes:

Office space on previously un-occupied floors
Floors that have been reconstructed
New buildings

Departments that are involved with new construction should estimate a cost of $105 per computer or shared printer. New construction activations require different work than a standard activation; therefore, the costs may vary depending on actual costs incurred.

Five days after initial move-in, additional activation requests will be treated as new requests.
