Information Services would like to encourage you to attend one of the on-site training sessions in the Loop, Lincoln Park, or Suburban Campuses. The in person training sessions will be approximately one hour in length, and they will give you an overview of the differences between Office 2003 and Office 2007. You will have the opportunity to learn the software hand’s on through a series of practice exercises. Training sessions will be offered beginning the week of September 21st and will be offered throughout the Fall Quarter. Additional training sessions will also be offered in the Winter Quarter. In person training sessions will be facilitated by the training staff from Instructional Technology Development (ITD) within Information Services. Faculty and staff are encouraged to sign-up for a training session prior to upgrading. Training sessions will be scheduled through the ITD website: www.itd.depaul.edu. Click on the Office 2007 Training section in the lower right hand corner of the site.

Excel, Word, and PowerPoint have a tab in the ribbon called “Get Started”. There are many resources available in the Get Started menu. For example, there is an Interactive Guide where you will see the Office 2003 interface and select a function you normally perform in Office 2003, and the tool will show you the steps to perform this same function in Office 2007. This is one of the best ways to learn about Office 2007. Click on Get Started, and select the Interactive Guide if you are unsure on how to perform a specific task, and this tool will show you right away! You can also find video demos and overviews on the Get Started tab.

A variety of Online training tools are available through the ITD website. Microsoft created an abundance of training documentation for the Office 2007 programs, and ITD compiled a list of some of the most handy online training tools. Plus, you can see a video of the Office 2007 training session. So, if you are unable to attend an In-Person training session, you can watch a video of the session.
