Media Advisory - DePaul expert says questions swirl around unveiling of next generation Xbox
Media Advisory - DePaul expert says questions swirl around unveiling of next generation Xbox
“With the new Xbox, will there be an attitude of ‘I’m
perfectly happy with the games I have, they look great, so why do I need to get
a new device?’” asked Zagal, assistant professor of game development and
interactive media at DePaul University’s College of Computing and Digital
Media.
Zagal says that it is a safe bet is that the new system will
“notch it up” in terms or graphics, storage and raw hardware capabilities. He
also expects that the motion-sensing Kinect will be integrated directly into
the main device, rather than the standalone component it is now.
“I think the biggest
question people are asking themselves is whether or not Microsoft is going to
stay the course,” Zagal added. “Will they take what worked with the Xbox 360
and try to stay with that, or are they going to do something radically
different?”
