DePaulia wins 7 awards in state contest

The DePaulia, DePaul University’s main student news source for more than 75 years, won seven awards, including three first-place honors, from the Illinois College Press Association.

Among its first-place wins was one for general excellence in the category of non-daily papers from institutions with more than 4,000 students enrolled.

It also received first-place honors for in-depth reporting on last year’s NATO Summit and in the column writing category. And, it placed in categories for excellence in writing and photography.

“This is quite an accomplishment. It reflects a real team effort on their part,” said Marla Krause, faculty advisor for the DePaulia and an instructor in College of Communication. “I am so proud of them and the hard work and countless hours they have put into the newspaper.”
