DePaul University’s School of Cinema and Interactive Media Announces Fall 2012

DePaul University’s School of Cinema and Interactive Media (CIM) will hold a series of film screenings and associated lectures by visiting artists. All events will take place in the CDM Theatre, The Daley Building, 247 S. State St., Lower Level, Chicago. All programs are free and open to the public. Tickets are not required, but seating is limited.

 

Oct. 5, 6 p.m.                          Last Will & Testament + Filmmaker Q&A

 

Exclusive pre-release screening of the controversial new documentary about the mystery of who really wrote the works of William Shakespeare. Followed by Q&A with director Lisa Wilson and producer Aaron Boyd, moderated by CIM faculty member John Corba. The film was executive produced by Roland Emmerich. 

 

Oct. 19, 6 p.m.                                    Character Designer Scott Campbell

A brilliant visual artist who works in a wide array of fields, Scott Campbell is known for his character design of the game Brutal Legend (starring Jack Black) and Psychonauts. Campbell will present samples of his work and discuss his creative and professional work with CIM faculty member Scott Roberts.

 

Oct. 25, 1:30 p.m.                   Bloody Sunday + Conversation with Don Mullan

Special screening of the acclaimed film that forced the British government to reopen its investigation into the killing of civil rights protesters in Ireland in 1972. Based on author and human rights activist Don Mullan’s book, this film helped launch the Hollywood career of director Paul Greengrass. Mullan will discuss his involvement in the film as a writer, co-producer and actor as well as his other film and human rights projects across the globe. Presented in cooperation with DePaul’s School of Public Service.

 

Nov. 2, 1 p.m.                          Bob Odenkirk of AMC’S Breaking Bad

Celebrated comedian and actor-direct-writer-producer Bob Odenkirk will discuss his prolific and unique career spanning Second City, Saturday Night Live and Mr. Show, including his current role in one of the most critically acclaimed series on television: Breaking Bad. Moderated by CIM faculty member Michael McCarthy.
