DePaul’s New O’Hare Facility Dedicated At Spirited Celebration

Members of the DePaul community, including administrators, faculty, staff and friends, gathered today to officially dedicate the new home of its O’Hare educational facility. The celebration included a blessing of the new space located in Triangle Plaza, 8770 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., near O’Hare International Airport.

DePaul’s president, the Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider, C.M., discussed the importance of having DePaul provide convenient educational options for students before bestowing blessings throughout DePaul’s new space. “There are lots of reasons that DePaul has thrived since 1898—it’s because of location, location, location,” he said. “Where DePaul has been located has helped us serve generations of students.  I think we have done it again.”

The new location offers students educational opportunities in 38,000 square feet of space that is easily accessible from the Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) Blue Line Cumberland station, the Tri-State toll road (I-294) and the Kennedy (I-90) expressway.  DePaul completed the relocation of its O’Hare program from its former location in Des Plaines to correspond with the start of the 2010-11 academic year.

DePaul’s new space, located on the second and third floors of  a 14-story building in Triangle Plaza, includes 19 classrooms, a multimedia center and student support and administrative offices. Among the available amenities are five student lounges, library resources, two computer labs and a full-service delicatessen. All occupied DePaul space also will have wireless internet access available.

Students can choose  from degree and non-degree programs offered through DePaul’s  highly regarded Kellstadt Graduate School of Business and the innovative School for New Learning. DePaul’s School of Education also will offer graduate courses at the new location. The relocation increases class capacity for students and potential students.

With more than 25,000 students, DePaul University is the largest Catholic university in the United States and the largest private, nonprofit university in the Midwest. The university offers more than 260 graduate and undergraduate programs of study at two Chicago, four suburban, and three international locations. Founded in 1898, DePaul remains committed to providing access to a quality education through personal attention to students from a wide range of backgrounds.
