DePaul Experts Available to Comment On Immigration Law

In the wake of a federal judge issuing an injunction blocking key provision of Arizona's controversial Arizona immigration law challenged by the U.S. Department of Justice Thursday, DePaul University has experts available to provide commentary on a number of related topics as the case unfolds.  Experts include:

Sioban Albiol, director of DePaul’s Asylum and Immigration Law Clinic. Expert in general immigration and asylum law issues as well as the U.S. Justice Department's lawsuit challenging Arizona's immigration policy. Albiol can be reached at (312) 362-8292 or salbiol@depaul.edu.

Anna O. Law, associate professor of political science. Author of the recently released “The Immigration Battle in American Courts” that finds that the federal judiciary, primarily the U.S. Courts of Appeals, has become a primary policy-making body on immigration. “People immediately think of Congress and the president on the topic of immigration policy. But the federal judiciary has enormous influence in implementing the policy because legislation these days is so vaguely written, which leaves much room for judges’ interpretation.” Law can be reached at (773) 325-4326 or alaw1@depaul.edu. Craig Mousin, DePaul University ombudsperson. An attorney and ordained minister of the United Church of Christ, Mousin is an authority on immigration and refugee law. He also teaches asylum and refugee Law policy courses at the DePaul College of Law. Mousin can be reached at (312) 362-8707 or cmousin@depaul.edu.
