Media Alert: Springfield-Bound DePaul Students Gather On Lincoln Park Campus Oct. 15 To Urge Restoration Of State Financial Aid

Update: View a
video about DePaul students involved in the campaign.

Members of the media are invited to cover:

WHO: More than 200 DePaul University students, representing the 4,600 students at the university who face losing approximately $10 million in state financial aid next quarter….

WHAT: Will gather to pick up protest signs, t-shirts and buttons and board busses bound for a Springfield rally by college students from across the state to urge Illinois legislators to restore funding to the Monetary Award Program (MAP). This state financial aid program for needy college students has been cut for the second half of the academic year, jeopardizing the futures of more than 138,000 Illinois students – including a quarter of undergraduates at DePaul – who receive MAP grants and have few resources to make up the lost financial aid.

WHERE: In front of DePaul’s Sullivan Athletic Center, 2323 N. Sheffield Ave., Chicago

WHEN: 7 a.m., Oct. 15. Buses are scheduled to leave at 7:30 a.m.
