Video: Margaret Atwood Dramatic Reading At DePaul Draws Event’s Largest Crowd

More than 900 people attended a dramatic reading of excerpts from celebrated author Margaret Atwood’s new novel, “The Year of the Flood,” at DePaul University’s Merle Reskin Theatre Nov. 6, the largest crowd for Atwood’s current theatrical book tour.

The innovative 70-minute event featured narration by Atwood; Anne Clark Bartlett, DePaul English professor; Marc Embree, School of Music lecturer; and Loresa Grigsby, a senior in The Theatre School at DePaul.  They were accompanied by a student chorus from DePaul’s School of Music and California singer-songwriter and guitarist Orville Stoeber, who co-wrote hymns for the performance.

Atwood praised the Chicago audience for being “stellar” in a Twitter posting following the performance.
