Funeral Plans and Memorial Funds Established For Francisco Valencia

As family, friends and co-workers mourn the passing of Francisco “Frankie” Valencia at a wake this weekend, fundraising efforts are underway to honor the well-respected DePaul University student.

Visitation for Valencia will be held Nov. 7 from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 8 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. in Norridge. The funeral memorial service begins at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 9 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1010 W. Webster Ave, Chicago. Burial is private.

Two funds have been established at TCF Bank, one for donations to offset funeral costs for Valencia, and another to assist injured student Daisy Camacho with her medical bills. Checks designated “In Memory of Francisco Valencia” or “Fundraiser for Daisy Camacho” may be dropped off or sent to any TCF Bank branch, including the branch at 2250 N Sheffield Ave., Chicago, Ill. 60604, on DePaul’s Lincoln Park Campus.

DePaul also is launching a student scholarship in honor of Valencia.   Checks payable to the Francisco Valencia Memorial Scholarship may be mailed to:

Editors’ note:  At the request of Valencia’s family, the church is closed to media coverage during the wake and funeral.  Journalists are asked to shoot video/photos from a designated area on the sidewalk outside of the church, where a family spokesperson is expected to talk to the media.
