DePaul Student Films To Shine On The Big Screen

DePaul University’s College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM) will present the fourth annual DePaul Digital Cinema Premiere Film Festival on June 5, at Chicago’s historic Portage Theater, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave.  Featuring the best in student filmmaking, the program is free to DePaul students, faculty and staff ($10 for other filmgoers) and will screen narrative, experimental, music-video and documentary pieces.

Being held for the first time at the 1,321-seat Portage Theater, the festival will showcase nearly a dozen of DePaul’s best student-produced films.  To view highlights and clips from previous year’s festivals, visit the School of Cinema and Interactive Media on YouTube at http://tinyurl.com/r2kt5h.

DePaul’s Digital Cinema program represents a convergence of cinema, technology, animation and gaming.   The groundbreaking program offers two bachelor’s degree and two graduate degree tracks, while allowing students to explore the multiple formats of visual storytelling that are available to artists in the digital age.

The School of Cinema and Interactive Media is part of DePaul’s CDM.  With 1,898 master’s-level students and 1,260 undergraduate students, DePaul’s CDM is one of the largest of its kind in the nation and has evolved in the past two decades into an interdisciplinary college with a broad range of innovative programs.  In the past three years, alone, more than $1.3 million has been invested into state-of-the-art labs, facilities and specialized equipment for the college.
