DePaul Sponsors Financial Innovation Conference May 15 And International Markets Investment Discussion May 28
Finance industry professionals can learn about the latest trends involving financial innovation and international market investments at two separate programs this spring sponsored by DePaul University Department of Finance centers.
On May 15, The Arditti Center for Risk Management will present a daylong conference on financial innovation. Co-sponsored by the CME Group Foundation, the event runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the CME Group Auditorium, 20 S. Wacker Drive, Chicago. Speakers and subjects include:
- Brian Oliver, director, CME Group Business Development, on "The Open Clearing Solution for Credit Default Swaps"
- Sharath Sury, chief executive officer, S4 Capital, on "Alpha-Beta Separation"
- Larissa Miller, senior instructor, Financial Markets Education, on "Financial Products Safety Commission"
- John Southard, chief investment officer, Powershares, on "The Explosion of Exchange Traded Funds: Why and For How Long?"
- Dan diBartolomeo, chief executive officer, Northfield Financial Systems, on "Assessing Short-term Risk From Long-term Models: A State Variable Approach"
- Izzy Nelken, chief executive officer, SuperComputer Consulting, on "Pitfalls of Innovation Products"
Clinical Professor of Finance Jack Mosevich, acting director of the Arditti Center, will introduce the sessions, and Leo Melamed, chairman emeritus of the CME, will deliver the luncheon address.

On May 28, The Center for Financial Services will host an Investment Strategy Update panel discussion about investing in international markets. Three speakers will explore the outlook for European, Asian, emerging and developed markets: James Pressler, international economist, The Northern Trust; Paul Christopher, global macro strategist, Eclipse Capital Management; and Robert Gernstetter, founder and director of marketing, Mastholm Asset Management.
DePaul Adjunct Finance Professor Karim Pakravan will moderate the session, which will be held in Room 8005 of the DePaul Center, 1 E. Jackson Blvd., Chicago.
