DePaul Hosts Ninth Annual McGuckin Harpsichord Recital April 18
The concert, which includes works by Rameau, Scarlatti and Bach, will be followed by a reception. Both events are free and open to the public. Noted harpsichordist Wendy Young will be featured and she will be joined by the DePaul Baroque Ensemble for a performance of Bach’s Concerto in D Major. The Baroque Ensemble consists of School of Music students who have an interest in music of the Baroque period and is directed by faculty member Roger Goodman.
“This wonderful event brings a world-class harpsichord specialist to DePaul each year to perform for the community and our students on an extraordinary double-manual Flemish-style instrument that was built for DePaul a number of years ago by master craftsman Willard Martin,” said Don Casey, dean of DePaul School of Music. “For those who love harpsichord and the Baroque music that often employs it, this event is a must-see.”
