Catch the Spirit with "Christmas at DePaul" Tribute to the Holiday Dec. 12
DePaul University will again host an inspirational musical retelling of the birth of Christ on Dec. 12 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1010 W. Webster Ave., at DePaul’s Lincoln Park campus.
The program, set in one of Chicago’s most majestic churches, will include a combined 200-member community choir and a 50-piece DePaul student orchestra. The 50-minute program is a collaborative effort between DePaul’s schools of Music and Theatre and will feature dramatic lighting by Theatre School Dean John Culbert, an award-winning designer.
This year’s guest conductor is Josephine Lee, an alumna of the School of Music and artistic director of the acclaimed Chicago Children’s Choir. The program will be narrated by Phyllis Griffin, head of the Theatre School’s voice and speech program.
There will be two public performances on Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Seating is limited and those who wish to attend must register to obtain tickets. The programs are free, but donations for St. Vincent de Paul’s parish-sponsored charities are requested.
Attendees are asked to register at http://secretary.depaul.edu/christmas
starting Nov. 3. The Web site also will include a list of recommended items to donate to St. Vincent de Paul charities. For more information please call (312) 362-8458.
