British And Irish Consuls General To Speak At DePaul May 29
British Consul General James Clark and Irish Consul General Martin Rouine will hold a discussion on May 29 at 7 p.m. in Room 154 of DePaul University’s Schmitt Academic Center, 2320 N. Kenmore Ave., that centers on the agreement that brought an end to the conflict between the two countries.
The Good Friday Agreement was signed 10 years ago and established the framework for local and collaborative government in Northern Ireland and helped bring an end to a generation of violence and discord among Protestants and Catholics and unionists and Republicans in Northern Ireland.
The discussion is sponsored by the university’s Irish studies program and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. It is free and open to the public. For more information contact James Fairhall, director of the Irish studies program, at jfairhall@depaul.edu.
