Mike Wilson Of "Crossing Arizona," The Critically Acclaimed Documentary, To Speak At DePaul University April 11
In recognition of National Diversity Month, DePaul University’s Cultural Center will present a discussion of “Crossing Arizona,” Joseph Matthews’ award-winning documentary that examines the border-crossing immigration issue in Arizona, April 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. in Munroe Hall, 2312 N. Clifton Ave., Room 114-116.
Mike Wilson, a member of the Tohono O’odham Indian Nation, will lead the discussion. He was featured in the film and has gained national recognition for his humanitarian efforts to provide water for Mexican immigrants crossing the Arizona desert. Shown in the film stashing gallons of water around the tribe’s reservation, which abuts the Arizona-Mexico border, Wilson works against the wishes of his own tribe and on behalf of Humane Borders, an aid organization.
Wilson’s talk is part of the Cesar Chavez Service and Values Lecture Series and is free and open to the public. For information about this and other events of the Cultural Center, call 773/325-7759.
