DePaul University's Islamic World Studies Program Takes A Look At "Faith Behind Bars" in March 5 Panel
A panel of recognized experts will take a close look at religion in prisons as DePaul University continues its Islam: Image and Reality town hall series March 5 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Cortelyou Commons, 2324 N. Fremont St.
“Faith Behind Bars” panelists will include Frederick Al-Deen, a former administrative chaplain for the Federal Bureau of Prisons; Christie Billups, a chaplain at Kolbe House, a Catholic prison ministry at Assumption Church in Chicago; the Rev. Gregory Livingston of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition; Cynthia Roseberry, a criminal defense attorney who recently relocated from Georgia to establish a misdemeanor clinic at the DePaul University College of Law; Imam Abu Talib, a prison advocate and Muslim leader from New York; and Ed Yohnka, director of communications public policy for the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois.
The panel discussion in free and open to the public.
