Sheffield Ave.

The panelists will be: Elizabeth Brackett, a correspondent for “Chicago Tonight” and “The News Hour with Jim Lehrer;” Cheryl Corley, a reporter at National Public Radio; Mike Flannery, the political editor at WBBM-TV; Walter Jacobson, a former anchor and news commentator at WBBM-TV and WFLD-TV; John Kass, columnist at the Chicago Tribune; Andrew Patner, critic-at-large at WFMT Radio; and Don Terry, a reporter at the Chicago Tribune. Washington, DePaul’s Ida B. Wells-Barnett

University Professor and columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and In These Times magazine, will moderate the discussion.

According to Washington, the panel will examine black politics and the media from the Washington era to the age of presidential candidate Sen. The panel is free and open to the public. The event is being held as part of the Harold Washington Commemorative Year programming. It is co-sponsored by DePaul’s Humanities Center, the College of Communication and the Harold Washington Commemorative Committee.
