DePaul Digital Cinema Premiere Film Fest Set for Friday
WHAT: DePaul’s Second Annual Digital Cinema Premiere Film Festival
WHERE: DePaul University - Lincoln Park Campus Quad (on the south side of Fullerton Avenue, just west of Kenmore Avenue)
WHEN: 8:30 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2007
WHO: Presented by DePaul Digital Cinema Premiere Society, Student Life Office, DePaul’s School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems (CTI) and Project Bluelight
BACKGROUND:
The fest will feature 13 of the top narrative, experimental, music-video, and documentary films produced by DePaul students, all shown on a big screen under the stars. Refreshments will be available. Admission is free and open to the public. Seating will be available, but those attending are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs, too.
DePaul launched the Digital Cinema Program – the most comprehensive of its kind, representing a convergence of cinema, technology, animation and gaming – in 2004 with two bachelor’s degree programs. Two graduate degree programs were added in 2006. Project Bluelight, a professional motion picture production company within DePaul CTI’s Digital Cinema Program, allows students to gain film experience in two distinct experiential learning situations: working under a group of professionals on a full-length feature film, and for more advanced students, in the production of an independent short. Upon completion, films are submitted to independent film festivals and distribution options are explored.
