CME Execs Explore “The Future Of Futures” At DePaul April 10

Executives from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and finance industry experts will explore the outlook for the futures industry during a panel discussion, titled “The Future of Futures,” at DePaul University April 10. The free, public event is co-sponsored by the university’s newly established Fred Arditti Center for Risk Management and Circle of Finance Opportunities, DePaul’s finance alumni association.

Geared to professionals working in the securities and risk management industries, the discussion will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Room 8005 of the DePaul Center, 1 E. Jackson Blvd., Chicago. Ali Fatemi, DePaul finance chair, will introduce the panel, which will be moderated by John Nyhoff, director of Research and Product Development for the CME. Panelists include John P. Davidson III, managing director, CME; Peter Johnson, managing director, J.P. Morgan Futures Inc.; and Scott Gordon, chief executive officer, Rosenthal Collins Group and former chairman of the CME.

“Consolidation is having a tremendous impact on the futures industry,” Fatemi said. “This will be a very timely discussion of what the futures industry will look like in the coming years, which products will emerge and which will disappear, and how the new market structure will shape the industry.”

The Fred Arditti Center for Risk Management at DePaul’s College of Commerce was launched with a $1 million grant from the CME Trust in December. The center promotes excellence in teaching and research in the fields of risk and financial management and commemorates the work of the late futures industry pioneer Fred Arditti, a CME executive and 15-year DePaul finance faculty member, who died in October of 2005.
