Scholars and Policy Experts Examine Images and Realities of Islam at Town Hall Meeting

More than 400 people gathered recently at DePaul University’s Merle Reskin Theatre, 60 E. Balbo Dr., Chicago, for an engaging panel discussion on “Islam: Image and Reality.” The speakers covered topics ranging from the United States’ policy toward Muslim countries; perceptions and fears of domestic Muslims since 9/11; and the moral, economic and political questions surrounding U.S military presence in Iraq. Excerpts from an upcoming PBS Television series “America at a Crossroads” were shown prior to the panel discussion.The program was hosted by Aminah McCloud, director of DePaul’s Islamic World Studies program.
