Legendary Producer, Director and Screenwriter Jim Abrahams to Speak at DePaul University Nov. 17

The creator of some of Hollywood’s most beloved comedies will share his insights from his 35-year career with DePaul University students Nov. 17 at the university’s Loop Campus.

Jim Abrahams, who has produced, written and directed films such as “Airplane!,” “The Naked Gun,” “Hot Shots,” “Top Secret” and “Scary Movie 4,” will speak at 5 p.m. in the Digital Cinema Studio, Room 924 of the CTI Building, 243 S. Wabash Ave.

The creative force behind more than 20 films and television shows, Abrahams will be the guest of DePaul’s Digital Cinema program. Part of the university’s School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems, the Digital Cinema program launched in 2004 with the recognition that digital technology is now a core element in the art and craft of cinema. Offering two bachelor’s and the Midwest’s first graduate degree options, the program is the most comprehensive of its kind, representing a convergence of cinema, technology, animation and gaming. To date, the university has invested more than $3 million in the program’s high-tech production capabilities.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information on DePaul’s Digital Cinema program, please visit the program’s Web site at http://www.cti.depaul.edu/digitalcinema/.
