DePaul’s Coleman Entrepreneur Center Hosts “Meet The Angels” Investment Forum For Early-Stage Entrepreneurs Oct. 26
Start-up and early stage entrepreneurs are invited to mingle with angel investors Oct. 26 at “Meet the Angels: An Educational and Networking Forum” sponsored by the DePaul University’s Coleman Entrepreneurship Center.
Co-sponsored by the Keiretsu Forum and the Illinois Business and Investor Forum, “Meet the Angels” will feature a general panel discussion and industry-specific roundtable talks, as well as networking opportunities with angel investors, individuals who provide capital for business start-ups. Speakers include Michael Gruber, chapter president of the Keiretsu Forum; Michael Hanna, chairman of BioAngels; and Steven Miller, principal of Origin Ventures. The forum will be held 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the University Center Conference Center, 525 S. State St., Chicago.
“Entrepreneurs often consider angel investors potential sources of early-stage capital, without understanding much about these individuals and what makes them different than other investors,” said Raman Chadha, executive director of the Coleman Entrepreneur Center. “This educational and networking forum is designed to help the entrepreneur understand the investors’ perspective: what they look for in deals, how they make their decisions, and what the relationship is like post-investment.”
Panel discussion topics include “Inside the Mind of an Angel,” which will cover the types of businesses that are good fits for angel investment, how to pitch a business to an angel investor, and how to work together after funding. The industry specific roundtable discussions will give participants opportunities to ask angel investors specific questions about how to make a deal in industries such as manufacturing, bio/life sciences, business and financial services, and software/information technology.
Admission to the forum is $50 per person. For more information, please visit the Coleman Entrepreneur Center’s Web site: cec.depaul.edu or call the center at 312/3
