DePaul’s Ida B. Wells-Barnett Univ. Prof. Laura Washington Slates Media Roundtable On Hurricane Katrina Nov. 2

“Covering Katrina, Uncovering Race” is the topic for discussion at Laura Washington’s fall quarter media roundtable talk at DePaul University, Nov. 2, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center, 2250 N. Sheffield Ave., Room 120.

Washington, the Ida B. Wells-Barnett University Professor at DePaul, is also a columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and senior editor for In These Times magazine. She will serve as moderator of a discussion with Cheryl Corley, a National Public Radio correspondent and journalism award-winner for her coverage of immigration issues, and Gary Rivlin, a New York Times contributor and author of “Fire on the Prairie: Chicago’s Harold Washington and the Politics of Race,” which won the Carl Sandburg award.

The panel discussion is free and open to the public. A reception with the special guests will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
