DePaul University’s Public Services Program To Host Concert To Benefit New Orleans Sept. 24

Live music by Hurricane Gumbo, Louisiana-style cuisine, a silent auction, door prizes and a two-hour open bar will be the major attractions of a “Rebuild and Revive New Orleans Benefit,” Sept. 24 at the Cubby Bear, 1059 W. Addison St., from 2 to 6 p.m. Hurricane Gumbo is comprised of eight Chicago-based musicians whose sound is pure Louisiana, combining the elements of rhythm & blues, zydeco, jazz and funk. The faculty and staff of DePaul University’s Management of Public Services (MPS) Graduate Program are hosting the fundraiser. The event is an offshoot of a long-term New Orleans project in which MPS students are helping to revitalize a parish community in the Mid-City area. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Homeless Relief Programs in Mid City New Orleans. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 312/362-5564 or online at www.publicservice.depaul.edu .
