Coverage of the national rankings earned by the DePaul College of Law and part-time MBA program were among the many stories about DePaul that appeared in the media in April.

  • U.S.News & World Report ranked DePaul’s College of Law as one of the top 100 law schools in the United States in their latest survey of America’s best graduate schools. Two of the College of Law’s specialty programs, health law and intellectual property, and DePaul’s part-time MBA program, were also recognized. A photo of Glen Weissenberger, dean of the College of Law, also appeared alongside an April 14 Chicago Daily Law Bulletin story about the rankings.

  • Law Professor Sioban Albiol discussed United States immigration laws in an April 30 Chicago Sun-Times story.

  • CLTV broadcast a story April 29 about getting into college that featured an interview with Undergraduate Admission Director Carlene Klaas and video of DePaul campus tour.

  • DePaul law student Georgia Logothetis, one of the stars of Daily Kos, the biggest political blog on the Internet, was the topic of an April 28 Chicago Reader front page feature story.

  • Sociology Professor John Koval co-authored an April 27 Chicago Tribune op-ed about immigration reform.

  • A tribute to the late Peggy Roach, a civil rights crusader who worked at DePaul, appeared in the Sun-Times April 26.

  • Sociology Professor Deena Weinstein discussed how heavy metal bands often read books for inspiration in an April 26 Tribune story.

  • Athletic Director Jean Lenti Ponsetto talked about the values DePaul instills in its student athletes and the decisions they make in an April 19 RedEye story about the annual National Collegiate Athletic Association Life Skills program.

  • Law Professor Jeffrey Shaman discussed judicial ethics violations in an April 18 Washington Post story.

  • Psychology Professor Joseph Ferrari talked about tax procrastinators in an April 17 Dallas Morning News story.

  • In the April 13 Tribune “Grants and Giving” column, a $400,000 gift to DePaul’s Egan Urban Center from the Searle Funds at the Chicago Community Trust was noted.

  • Law Professor Patty Gerstenblith discussed ownership of antiquities in an April 13 New York Times story about the emergence of the Gospel of Judas.

  • DePaul was mentioned in an April 12 Naperville Sun article for being among 10 higher-learning institutions to have admissions experts speak at a gathering at Naperville North High School to discuss class rank.

  • Business Ethics Professor Laura Hartman was interviewed on National Public Radio’s “Marketplace” April 10 about a new Securities and Exchange Commission appointment and on April 6 about Coca-Cola’s decision to only pay their board of directors if they meet their financial targets.

  • Bob Lark, director of DePaul’s Jazz Ensemble, was featured in an April 10 article about his second album, “Until You,” on the All About Jazz Web site.

  • The Sun-Times published a full-page feature story April 6 on the DePaul Art Museum’s exhibit of award-winning film and theatre costumes designed by DePaul alumnus Theoni V. Alderedge.

  • Greg Brewster, associate dean of DePaul’s School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems, was interviewed about the sale of Lucent Technologies to Alcatel in an April 4 Columbus Dispatch story.

  • Joseph Schwieterman, director of DePaul’s Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development, discussed the beginning of the long-awaited O’Hare expansion project in an April 3 USA Today story.

  • Cherif Bassiouni, president of DePaul’s International Human Rights Law Institute, discussed Muslims converting to Christianity in an April 2 Tribune story.
