Wall Street Journal/CNBC And Chicago Tribune Journalists Will Discuss Ethics And Iraq War Coverage At DePaul Forum
DePaul University’s Institute for Business and Professional Ethics (IBPE) and the Society of Professional Journalists’ Chicago Headline Club will sponsor a panel discussion about “Ethics of Media Influence in the Iraq War” at 2 p.m. May 3. The free, public event will be held in the DePaul Club on the 11th floor of the DePaul Center, 1 E. Jackson Blvd.
The panelists will be: Chuck Goudie, investigative news reporter, WLS-TV; John Harwood, senior contributing writer for The Wall Street Journal and chief Washington correspondent for CNBC; Flynn McRoberts, deputy projects editor for the Chicago Tribune; and Shayla Theil, a DePaul assistant professor of communication and an online journalism expert. Mollie Painter-Morland, associate director of the IBPE and an associate professor of philosophy at DePaul, will moderate the discussion.
Founded in 1985 at DePaul’s College of Commerce, the IBPE fosters educational programs, public forums and research that explore and promote ethical practices in organizations. The institute is guided by a 26-member board drawn from Chicago’s corporate community. Board members and faculty associated with the institute promote the exploration of ethics in DePaul’s academic programs and serve as resources to the corporate community on business ethics issues.
