United Nations Information Technology Director to Speak at DePaul University Feb. 16

Eduardo Blinder, director of the information technology services division for the United Nations, continues the growing partnership between the U.N. and DePaul University’s School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems (CTI) by speaking to students and faculty at 2 p.m. Feb. 16 on the university’s Loop Campus.

The presentation, titled "Enterprise Architecture for the Public Sector in the ICT Universe," will take place in the Digital Cinema Lab on the 9th floor of DePaul’s CTI Building, 243 S. Wabash Ave. In his speech, Blinder will discuss the challenges and opportunities of managing large information enterprises in the global public and governmental sector.

DePaul is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) at the United Nations, and this is the second consecutive academic year that CTI has hosted an event with a U.N. official or taken part in a U.N. project. Last year, a group of CTI faculty and students helped to develop and implement Web sites for more than 25 developing nations with permanent missions to the United Nations, and the university places an intern at the United Nations headquarters in New York City to work on the project each quarter.

Admission to the event is free and open to the public.

DePaul CTI is one of the most innovative and wide-ranging computer science programs in the country. Its undergraduate program enrolls more than 1,100 students and offers 12 different degrees. Approximately 2,000 students are enrolled in its 18 graduate programs. CTI also features a doctoral degree program in computer science. For more information, visit: www.cti.depaul.edu.
