DePaul University Sponsors Spring Workshops To Unlock Business Creativity And Entrepreneurial Thinking

DePaul University’s Ryan Center for Creativity and Innovation and Coleman Entrepreneurship Center will co-sponsor “Unleashing Creativity Throughout Your Organization: Strategies and Practices for Entrepreneurial Firms,” a series of spring workshops to encourage business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs to manage creatively.

The workshops on April 7, April 28 and June 10 will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the DePaul Center, 1 East Jackson Blvd., Room 7301. The series includes:

April 7: “Bringing Your Business to Life: A Process for Igniting Your Business - Even If You Don’t Have an Idea!” Led by DePaul adjunct professor Laurie LaMantia, participants will discuss how to create the kind of business they dream about. A creativity consultant, LaMantia helped start the new ventures organization in AT&T and co-founded IdeaVerse, a creativity and innovation center within AT&T/Lucent Bell Laboratories. LaMantia teaches creativity in business, leadership and entrepreneurship at DePaul and is the co-author of “Breakthrough Teams for Breakneck Times,” a guide for fostering collaboration.

April 28: “Creative Problem Solving for Entrepreneurs” Facilitator Gregg Fraley will reveal creative thinking tools for uncovering and researching market needs, imagining solutions and launching and marketing new products and services. Fraley, an experienced entrepreneur and marketing/new product development consultant for Fortune 500 companies, will cite real-life examples to illustrate his points. A partner in the qualitative market research firm D.S. Fraley Associates, Fraley is author and illustrator of the recently published book on qualitative research, “Moderating to the Max.”

June 10: “Innovation on Demand: How to Make Creativity Standard Operating Procedure” Facilitator and DePaul adjunct professor Praveen Gupta will lead an exploration of how employees and organizations can innovate on demand, focusing on the theory, methodology, tools and measures of innovation. Gupta’s presentation will include his research and framework on innovation. Founder of Quality Technology Company, Gupta has more than 25 years of experience as a consultant and executive with more than 100 organizations, including Motorola, AT&T Bell Labs and Molex. He has authored several Six Sigma books, including “The Six Sigma Performance Handbook” and “Six Sigma Business Scorecard.”
