AmerKlavier™ Studio At DePaul University Presents Seven Concert Piano Series

Led by Artistic Director Eteri Andjaparidze, the AmerKlavier™ Studio at DePaul University’s School of Music will continue its musical season with seven piano concerts this winter and spring. The series celebrates Bach and Brahms as well as rare Austrian compositions and music written for the ballet, among other works.

AmerKlavier™ is an exceptional program of advanced piano study and concert/colloquium series founded by Andjaparidze, an internationally renowned pianist and DePaul associate piano professor. The current AmerKlavier™ Studio consists of 15 talented DePaul piano students, shepherded by Andjaparidze, who explore the global art of piano playing through study and performance.

The concerts scheduled for Feb. 9, March 2, April 12, April 27, May 4 and May 19 begin at 8 p.m. The final concert, on June 1, will be performed at 6 p.m. All concerts but one will be performed at the DePaul Concert Hall, 800 W. Belden Ave.; the May 4 performance will take place in the DePaul Recital Hall, 804 W. Belden Ave. All events are free and open to the public. The programs include:

Feb. 9: “AmerKlavier™ Introduces Austrian Rarities.” Students of the AmerKlavier™ Studio and chamber groups perform a program of rare Austrian chamber music with piano, including Archduke Rudolph of Austria’s “Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano”; Mahler’s “Quartet for Piano and Strings”; Wolf’s “Mignon”; and Strauss’ “Quartet for Piano and Strings.”

March 2: The AmerKlavier™ Piano Theatre series presents “Grand Pas d’AmerKlavier™,” a program of ballet music arranged for one and two pianos. Andjaparidze and her piano students perform Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker,” Machavariani’s “Otello,” Prokofiev’s “Cinderella,” Satie’s “Parade” and Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring.”

April 12: The AmerKlavier™ Studio students perform “Well Tempered Clavier,” Book I, by Bach.

April 27: “AmerKlavier™ with Strings Attached” will feature School of Music faculty and students performing Brahms’ complete quartets for piano and strings. Performers include pianists Andjaparidze, Anna Brandenbursky and Inga Kashakashvili; violinists Ilya Kaler and Roxana Pavel-Goldstein; violist Elias Goldstein; and cellists Steve Balderston and Carolina Gomez.

May 4: The AmerKlavier™ Studio presents “Toward the Light,” a celebration of music by composers from Bach to DePaul Music School faculty member emeritus George Flynn in a collaborative audio/visual production with the DePaul Sound Recording Technology Program chaired by Tom Miller. Andjaparidze and Miller are co-artistic directors of this multimedia concert.

May 19: The AmerKlavier™ Studio and Goethe-Institut Chicago co-present Heather O’Donnell in piano recital. The program includes music by Schumann, Lachenmann and Zimmermann.

June 1: The AmerKlavier™ Studio presents a year-end gala of piano works performed by Andjaparidze and her piano students.
