DePaul University Holding Interfaith Prayer Services for Tsunami Victims Friday, Jan. 7

Public Welcome to Attend Services in Remembrance of Those Lost in South Asian Disaster

Students, faculty, staff and friends of DePaul University will pause to remember the victims of the tsunamis in South Asia on Friday, Jan. 7 during interfaith prayer services on the university’s two city campuses.

The first service will take place on the Loop Campus at 8:30 a.m. in the 11th floor lounge of the DePaul Center, 1 E. Jackson Blvd. The other service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on the Lincoln Park Campus, in the first-floor atrium of the DePaul Student Center, 2250 N. Sheffield Ave. The public is welcome to attend both services, which are sponsored by DePaul University Ministry.

Participants will gather at both sites to reflect in silence, take part in shared responses, and respectfully commemorate the thousands who lost their lives in the disaster, as well as pray for the survivors and those close to them. Also, information will be available on how to make donations to help those affected by the tragic events.

The services are each scheduled to last approximately one half-hour. For parking information, please visit http://www.depaul.edu/about_DP/parking.asp.
