Actor Gabriel Byrne to Participate in Panel Discussion on Hunger Awareness with Students at DePaul University’s Lincoln Park Campus Thursday Oct. 7

WHO:

-Gabriel Byrne, internationally acclaimed actor and star of such films as “Vanity Fair,” “Stigmata,” “End of Days,” “The Usual Suspects” and “Miller’s Crossing.” He is also an advocate for world hunger relief.

WHAT:

A panel discussion and dialogue with students on the subjects of raising awareness of global hunger issues and potential solutions to these problems, in advance of Concern Worldwide’s 24-hour Fast for Hunger Relief on campuses nationwide on Oct. 14.

BACKGROUND:

Concern Worldwide USA, a group that provides relief and long-term assistance to 27 nations on five continents, is helping to sponsor the first annual Hunger Week on campus. Organized by students at DePaul in the spirit of the university’s Vincentian mission of service to others, Hunger Week activities include guest speakers, informational tables, prayer meetings and other events to encourage campus-wide participation in the 24-hour fast.

NOTE: Admittance to the event is not open to the general public, and is limited to DePaul students and faculty only. However, members of the media are welcome to attend.
