Free Screening of "Lost Boys Of Sudan" at DePaul University July 30

The story of two Sudanese refugees on their extraordinary and inspiring journey from Africa to America will be the feature presentation in a free film screening at DePaul University’s Lincoln Park Campus at 3 p.m. July 30.

"Lost Boys of Sudan," an award-winning documentary film by Megan Mylan and Jon Shenk, will be shown in Room 314 A & B at the DePaul Student Center, 2250 N. Sheffield Ave. The feature-length film follows two young Sudanese men, Peter Dut and Santino Chuor. Orphaned as young boys in one of Africa’s bloodiest civil wars, the two survived everything from lion attacks to militia gunfire to reach a refugee camp in Kenya with thousands of other children. From there, they were chosen to come to America. Safe at last from the war and famine, but a world away from home, they find themselves confronted with the abundance and alienation of contemporary American suburbia.

Following the screening of the film, there will be a panel discussion with Sudanese refugees who now are living in Chicago.

Doors open at 2:30 p.m. for the screening, and seating is limited for the event. Light refreshments will be served. The event is presented by the "Girls With Engineering Mindz (GEMz)" Technology Camp, which is being held at DePaul the same week.
