DePaul University Hosts Visual Computing Workshop May 21

A broad range of advanced researchers in image processing and other visual technology fields will gather for a workshop at DePaul University’s School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems (CTI) for a day of presentations, discussions and hands-on tutorials.

The Visual Computing Workshop 2004 will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 21 in Room 8005 of the DePaul Center, 1 E. Jackson Blvd. The program is geared towards technology professionals who are looking to expand their proficiency in the field. The day-long curriculum will feature both introductory and advanced visual computing sessions, an introduction to medical imaging and a Matlab tutorial session.

In addition to three DePaul faculty members -- assistant professors Jacob Furst, Daniela Raicu and Yakov Keselman -- the speakers scheduled for the event are:

-Ishwar Sethi, professor and chair, Oakland University, Rochester, Mich.

-Stephen Pizer, Kenan Professor of computer science, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C.

-Sven Dickinson, associate professor, University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada

The conference is co-sponsored by the DePaul Quality of Instruction Council, the Delta chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon at DePaul, and the DePaul CTI Colloquium Committee.
