Joe Cappo To Deliver Advertising Lecture April 28
Now that television and newspapers are both declining as market vehicles, will the advertising business follow suit? Is it time for advertising to reinvent itself? These are questions that author, journalist and former Crain’s Chicago Business publisher Joe Cappo will address in the Public Relations and Advertising Distinguished Lecture Series, April 28 at 7 p.m. in DePaul University’s Schmitt Academic Center, 2320 N. Kenmore Ave., Room 154.
Before his retirement, Cappo spent 25 years serving in several capacities within Crain’s, including publisher of Advertising Age and Crain’s Chicago Business, group publisher for seven journals, senior vice president of international licensing and president of Crain’s Mexico subsidiary. Prior to joining Crain’s, Cappo spent 15 years in the daily newspaper business writing columns for the Chicago Daily News and the Chicago Sun-Times. He has lectured extensively in more than 30 countries in North America, Latin America, Asia and Europe while winning numerous awards for his work over the years.
Cappo is a native of Chicago and a graduate of DePaul.
The lecture, titled “The Deconstruction of Advertising and Old Media,” is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Kathy Fitzpatrick, associate professor of communication, at 773/325-7340.
