T. Berry Brazelton, M.D. To Speak In Chicago May 8

DePaul psychology faculty host talk at Society on Infant Studies conference

T. Berry Brazelton, M.D., internationally recognized for close to 60 years of innovative research in pediatrics, will present a free, public keynote address, “Stresses and Supports for Families: The Touchpoints Program,” at 5 p.m. on May 8 in the Grand Ballroom of the Palmer House Hilton, 17 E. Monroe St.

Brazelton’s talk is being held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the International Society on Infant Studies (ISIS) that is being hosted by George Michel and Linda Camras, DePaul University professors of psychology and experts in infant development.

Founder of the pediatric training and research center at Children’s Hospital in Boston, Brazelton has published 35 books in his field, including the popular “Infants and Mothers,” which has been translated into 18 languages. His recent book, “Touchpoints: Three to Six, Your Child’s Emotional and Behavioral Development,” written with prominent child psychiatrist Joshua Sparrow, picks up where the groundbreaking “Touchpoints: The Essential Reference” left off. One of Brazelton’s foremost achievements in pediatrics is his Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale used worldwide to assess the physical, neurological and emotional responses and well-being of newborns.
