Spike Lee to Speak at DePaul University Feb. 17

Award-Winning Film Director on Campus as Part of Black History Month Festivities

Internationally-acclaimed film actor and director Spike Lee is coming to Chicago to help celebrate Black History Month at DePaul University. The DePaul Activities Board is sponsoring "An Evening With Spike Lee," at 7 p.m. Feb. 17 at DePaul's Merle Reskin Theatre, 60 E. Balbo Drive.

Lee has directed Oscar-nominated movies, including "Do the Right Thing," and "Malcolm X." He has also directed "Summer of Sam," "Jungle Fever," "He Got Game," "Bamboozled," "25th Hour," "Clockers," "Crooklyn," and "Get on the Bus." Typically, Lee also acts in his films as a supporting character. He will be at DePaul to discuss issues of family, diversity, censorship, filmmaking and other topics. He also will hold a question-and-answer session with audience members.

Tickets for the event are $10 for the general public and $1 for DePaul students, faculty and staff with ID. Tickets are on sale now at a lobby promotional table or Room 201 at the DePaul Student Center, 2250 N. Sheffield Ave., as well as at the university's Loop Campus Student Life Office, 1 E. Jackson Blvd., 11th Floor. Any tickets remaining on the day of the event will be put on sale at the Merle Reskin Theatre Box Office Feb. 17 beginning at 5 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the event.
