Black Women Filmmakers Celebrated in Poster Exhibition at DePaul University, Sept. 29 – Dec. 19

DePaul University, in partnership with the Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF), will exhibit a collection of movie posters representing the works of more than 25 black women filmmakers in “Reel Sisters in Film,” from Sept. 29 through Dec.19 in the Haber Lounge gallery of the Richardson Library, 2350 N. Kenmore Ave.

The collection marks a historical first exhibition of the movie images from films directed and produced by black women. The exhibition was created in partnership with the CIFF’s Committee on Black Perspectives. Featured artists and their films include: Maya Angelou (“Down in the Delta”), Julie Dash (“Daughters of the Dust”), Kasi Lemmons (“Eve’s Bayou”) and Euzhan Palcy (“A Dry White Season”).

The exhibit is free and open to the public during library hours. The Richardson Library’s general hours are: Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. to midnight; Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, noon to midnight.
