Austrian Choir Will Perform At St. Vincent de Paul Church July 14

The Friedrich-Lessky Chor, a renowned choir from Vienna, Austria, will perform a repertoire of sacred and secular music from the Renaissance to the present, as well as Viennese popular music and works by Johann Strauss, at 7:30 p.m. July 14 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1010 W. Webster Ave.

The 35-voice group is in Chicago as part of an American tour, which includes performances in New York and the International Choral Festival in Missoula, Montana. The group has won numerous prizes at international choir competitions and has made several American tours in its 35-year existence. Founder and director Friedrich Lessky, was the principal of the Musikgymnasium Wien (Musical High School of Vienna). DePaul School of Music’s Community Choir is hosting the choir’s visit.
