DePaul University To Host Information Technology Outsourcing Conference Sept. 18

Academic, Business Technology Leaders To Discuss Current Trends and Industry Future

In the current uncertain economy, more businesses and organizations are turning to outsourcing of information technology (IT) services to survive and stabilize. To that end, DePaul University’s School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems (CTI) is hosting an IT Outsourcing Conference Sept. 18 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E. Wacker Drive.

The day-long conference will feature a variety of speakers, breakout sessions and panel discussions on various aspects of the IT outsourcing industry. Featured topics include vendor selection and security, infrastructure and software application outsourcing, risk management, service level agreements and managing the outsourcing relationship.

The keynote speaker for the event is John D. Sterling, CEO of Synch-Solutions, who will speak about achieving high value through outsourcing. The lunchtime guest speaker is Chris O’Brien, CIO for the City of Chicago. Other featured speakers include Helmut Epp, dean of DePaul CTI; Olayele Adelakun, professor of computer science at DePaul CTI; Edmond Cunningham, management group member of PA Consulting; Wendell Jones, CEO of Outsourcing Advisors International; Lemuel Amen, president of U.S. Midwest solutions consulting for EDS and Bernie Hoecker, director of business development for IBM Global Services. A networking reception featuring product demonstrations will follow the day’s events.

For registration information, access the conference Web page via the DePaul CTI site at http://www.cs.depaul.edu. The registration fee is $275 for DePaul alumni and $300 for non-alumni. Special rates are available for academic and not-for-profit institutions.

DePaul CTI is the one of the largest computer science programs in the country. The undergraduate program enrolls 1,949 students and offers six different degrees. More than 2,300 students are enrolled in the graduate program, which offers nine different master’s degrees. DePaul CTI also features a Ph.D. program in computer science.

DePaul University is the largest Catholic university in the nation and the ninth-largest private university in the United States. A richly diverse population of 21,363 students attends classes on two city and six suburban campuses.
