Carbon Monoxide Leak at South Suburban College Causes DePaul to Cancel Classes at its South Campus Tuesday, June 4
Fire Department officials are monitoring a carbon monoxide leak detected at South Suburban College,16333 S. Kilbourne Ave. in Oak Forest, the site of DePaul University’s South Campus. As a result, DePaul has cancelled evening classes scheduled for Tuesday, June 4.
No injuries have been reported, and South Suburban College officials have closed the building as a precautionary measure upon the fire department’s recommendation to allow close monitoring of the situation.
Four School for New Learning classes were scheduled and DePaul officials were spending the afternoon notifying students and instructors. Signs were posted at building entrances to alert those who could not be reached and security guards were available to share updates with students. An emergency message also was posted on the campus’ main phone number, (708) 633-9091, and an advisory was placed on DePaul’s home page at www.depaul.edu.
As of 4 p.m., it was expected that the building would be open tomorrow for business as usual.
