Volunteers to Serve Neighborhoods Around the City as
DePaul University Hosts Vincentian Community Service Day May 18
WHAT: DePaul University will be sponsoring its annual Vincentian Community Service Day, part of the university’s longstanding commitment to serving others, inspired by the university’s namesake, St. Vincent de Paul.
WHO: A group of more than 800 DePaul students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends will join together to perform more than 3,200 hours of community service at 18 different sites around the city. The volunteers will be performing a variety of tasks and projects, including painting, cleaning, gardening and other maintenance work.
WHEN: Saturday, May 18, 2002. (Media availability and photo opportunities: 10 a.m. – Noon.)
WHERE: St. Josephenum High School, 1501 N. Oakley Ave.: The Rev. John P. Minogue, DePaul University president, will join a group of volunteers with gardening and landscaping projects. In the event of rain, the group will be cleaning inside the school.
Marillac House, 212 S. Francisco Ave. (just north of the Eisenhower expressway, east of Sacramento Boulevard.): A group of DePaul students, faculty and alumni will be painting at the facility and performing other maintenance tasks.
